Meisenthal's Christmas ornaments: a symbol of a region's revival

MEISENTHAL, France— For the past twenty years, it has become a ritual for the Meisenthal glass factory in Moselle, to produce a limited edition Christmas ornament at the end of every year.

Driven by their success, the glass factory is committed to reviving the de-industrialized region once famous for its spectacular glass art.

"In fact, it is the glass and not the glassmaker that dictates the rhythm and the most important thing for us is to do the right gesture at the right temperature," Jean-Marc Schilt, glassblower said.
