MANILA, Philippines— The Commission on Elections on Monday addressed complaints that there is a “seeming rush” to proclaim winning senatorial candidates and party-lists in the 2019 midterm elections.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said the poll body is not hurrying the proclamation.
He cited that some people are even complaining that they are taking “too much time” despite calls for early proclamation.
Jimenez said Comelec resisted requests for early proclamations because they wanted to hold the proclamation of winning senators and party-lists on the same day.
The proclamation is eyed on Tuesday since the National Board of Canvassers are only waiting for two remaining certificates of canvass.
