MANILA, Philippines — A fistfight involving two councilors of Bacolod City occurred during a council session on Wednesday.
In a video released by the Bacolod City Public Information Office, Bacolod City Councilor Claudio Puentevella, son of former mayor and Rep. Monico Puentavella, was seen punching fellow Councilor Dindo Ramos during the Sangguniang Panglungsod session.
Television reports said the fistfight broke after the two councilors had a heated discussion on a proposed construction of a sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa.
The proposed contract involves garbage hauler IPM Construction and Development Corp.
The local leaders called for a recess to cool down the incident but instead, a fistfight broke out.
This incident reportedly prompted the mayor and vice mayor of Bacolod City to tackle the possible complaint against Puentevella who initiated the brawl. Local government officials also touched on the Code of Ethics to iron out the incident. — Rosette Adel
