WATCH: Enchanted king-daw: Teo 'renames' Surigao del Sur River
MANILA, Philippines — Resigned Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo on Tuesday mistakenly named a river in Surigao del Sur as “Enchanted Kingdom.”
Senate blue ribbon chair Richard Gordon, a former tourism secretary questioned Teo for showing tourism advertisements which failed to list down the names of the locations.
Gordon cited billboards and videos as examples of these advertisements.
During the hearing into the P60 million advertisement deal of the People’s Television Network and the Department of Tourism, Gordon showed the tourism video of DOT titled “Anak” which featured Surigao del Sur’s river called “Enchanted River.”
Teo then responded that the tourism advertisement indicated the location and referred to the river’s name as “Enchanted Kingdom,” a name of a theme park in Laguna.
“Mayroon pong nakalagay (It indicated), Enchanted Kingdom, Hinatuan,” Teo said.
The former tourism chief made the mistake twice when asked by Gordon who claimed he did not see Hinatuan.
“Mayroon po (There is), Enchanted Kingdom, Enchanted River po, Hinatuan,” Teo responded.
