LIVE: House probe into Bilibid drug trade - Day 3

MANILA, Philippines — The members of the House Committee on Justice on Thursday morning resumed its hearing into the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

The hearing led by the committee's chair, Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali, is set to continue looking into the alleged involvement of Sen. Leila De Lima in the illegal market.

The third hearing came a week after the Bilibid riot a high profile inmate Tony Co was killed and three others including  Jaybee Sebastian, Peter Co and Vicente Sy were hurt. Sebastian was tagged by previous Bilibid witnesses as favored inmate who is in cahoots with former Justice secretary and now senator De Lima. He is expected to testify before the House.

Aguirre said he will present new witnesses who will testify against De Lima. The witnesses claim that they personally handed drug money to the senator.

The witnesses include Joenel Sanchez, who was earlier identified by inmate witnesses as having accepted drug money on behalf of De Lima.
