MANILA, Philippines — The Go Negosyo Talks: Meet the Vice Presidentiables debate on Monday shifted its topic from business to the history of EDSA and martial law when Liberal Party’s vice presidential bet, Camarines Sur Rep. Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo said EDSA Revolution is not about the Aquinos and the Marcoses but about attaining the justice of the victims of martial law.

Robredo’s sentiment was seconded by co-candidate Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, who also said the revolution is for the people who suffered during the martial law.

Vice presidential candidate Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. became the center of the discussion as he was also asked of the Marcos’s wealth and if martial law was justifiable.

The younger Marcos defended his father’s decision to declare martial law, saying that it was only triggered by two wars during the 70s: that in Muslim Mindanao and the communist insurgence. He said if elected as vice president, he cannot declare martial law as it is not covered by his authority. However, he maintained that there is no reason to place the country under martial law except in times of war.
