MANILA, Philippines - A video showing Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas' meeting with Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez surfaced in the video sharing site, YouTube, on Monday.
It was the same day that Romualdez appeared before the congressional oversight committee on the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 at the Senate, where the mayor accused Roxas of playing politics at the height of the relief operations for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda in Tacloban City.
The video was posted by "Josemari Gonzalez," the name of the father of Tacloban City Councilor Cristina "Kring Kring" Gonzalez, wife of the city mayor.
In the video, Roxas was telling the mayor: "You have to understand, you're a Romualdez and the President is an Aquino."
In a press conference at Camp Crame, Roxas clarified that he was just telling the mayor that President Aquino was being careful about ordering the take over of Tacloban because their families are political rivals.
"He (President Aquino) is being very careful in just taking over because he does not want anything to be misconstrued. Ang sinasabi ko nag-iingat kami (kasi baka masamain)," he said.
