Gov't urged to regulate sexy costumes, suggestive dances in TV
MANILA, Philippines - Sexy costumes and suggestive dances in television shows should be controlled by government agencies concerned, a party-list representative said today.
A-Teacher partylist congressman Mariano Piamonte said agencies like the Movie, Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) should regulate or limit what should be worn by contestants and hosts in TV programs.
"Ilalagay lang sa tamang lugar, kailangan ‘di malaswa," Piamonte said in a media forum in Greenhills, San Juan City today.
Piamonte also took a stab at telenovelas or soap operas, noting that they are even worse since many of them appear to be promoting immoral values to the audiences.
"Kahit mga telenovela, worse pa yun kasi pagtalikod ng landlady yung household helper will sit down in front of the TV with the children and watch these shows with themes of broken marriages and teenage pregnancy. Iyon talaga ang nakapagbibigay ng masamang influence sa mga bata," Piamonte said. Video by John Nulud/Philstar.com Trainee
