Netizens make #RP612fic trend anew for Independence Day
MANILA, Philippines — In keeping up with the annual Twitter party tradition, netizens made #RP612fic trend anew as the country observes the Philippine Independence Day.
Hashtag “RP612fic” means Republic of the Philippines June 12 fiction. The Twitter party was started by Filipino writer Paolo Chikiamco of RocketKapre.com in 2009.
It has been the trending topic on Twitter from midnight to afternoon on Monday.
Netizens combined Philippine history, national personalities, pop culture and current trends in their humorous but witty and creative tweets.
Tweets include references to memes, local and international TV series and movies, social media apps, Korean drama and K-pop personalities, song lyrics and dance crazes, among many others.
Some netizens said they have been looking forward to #RP612fic entries every year to get a good laugh and be entertained.
