TNT Tropang Giga diretsong finals

MANILA, Philippines — Ipinakita ng mga Tropang Giga na mas gutom silang makapasok sa PBA Finals kesa sa Fuel Masters.

Pinatalsik ng TNT Tropang Giga ang Phoenix, 91-81, sa ‘sudden death’ Game Five ng kanilang semifinals series patungo sa 2020 PBA Philippine Cup Finals kahapon sa Angeles University Foundation Gym sa Angeles, Pampanga.

Itiniklop ng Tropang Giga sa 3-2 ang kanilang best-of-five semis showdown ng Fuel Masters para sa kanilang pang-20 PBA Finals appearance.

Target ng koponan ni head coach Bong Ra­vena ang kanilang ika-walong korona matapos magkampeon sa isang All-Filipino conference noong 2012.

“Hats off to Phoenix. They really made us better every game that we played,” sabi ni Ravena. “Kung gusto mong gumaling kailangan magaling din ang kalaban mo. So salute to them.”

Kumolekta si Ray Ray Parks Jr., maglalaro sa kanyang kauna-unahang PBA Finals, ng 26 points, 10 rebounds at 6 assists habang nagdagdag sina Simon Enciso, RR Pogoy at Jayson Castro ng 12 at tig-11 markers, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

“It’s tough playing against a team like Phoenix. They are a very well-coached team, hard as a nail,” sabi ni Parks. “Our coaching staff really motivated us. Everybody played their part in this.”

Nang makuha ng Tropang Giga ang double-digit lead sa third period ay itinuloy nila ang pagbaon sa Fuel Masters sa fourth quarter mula sa itinayong 75-58 abante sa 7:05 minuto nito.

Ilang beses nagtangkang makabangon ang Phoenix ni mentor Topex Robinson, ngunit binigo sila ng TNT sa likod nina Parks, Pogoy at Enciso.

Humakot si Calvin Abueva ng 23 points, 13 boards, 6 assists at 3 blocks para pamunuan ang Fuel Masters.
