My balikbayan cousin’s American husband was totally shocked by the “revelation” that the former president is a fentanyl user (by his own admission) and the current President is or was a cocaine user.
Whether true or not, he said, you have that on all the front pages, how can you expect business people to invest millions or billions to set up factories and offices in the country? Truly, we are our own worst enemy. Nakakahiya tayo.
I don’t know if President Marcos Jr. indeed is/was a user, but to have the former president throw that accusation in a public broadcast and to even claim that he will show proof in some future time shows total disregard for the welfare of the country.
And for what motive? To get back in the spotlight, to try and regain some relevance, some media exposure? To get back at the President for perceived or imagined bad treatment of his daughter that jeopardizes her and the family’s political plans?
If indeed the drug use is true, he should have acted on it when he was president and charged and arrested the guy while he was just an ordinary citizen. Why only now? There is absolutely no love for country in the former president’s actions. The best thing he can do is shut up, ride his motorcycle into the sunset of retirement. — Jerry Fuentes, Novaliches, QC
