Robots to the government?

Robots (or humanoids) powered by AI (artificial intelligence) held a press conference last week in Geneva together with their human creators, promising they won’t steal our jobs or turn on us humans but saying that they can do a much better job running the world than humans have done so far.

How ready are we for this brave/scary new world? More importantly, how ready are our youth to survive and compete and succeed in this kind of world?

When we’re still debating on how to get every province and barangay connected to the internet, when we’re still debating endlessly on education reform because our students fare dismally in reading and math and graduates don’t/can’t find good jobs…the world has changed in ways we could not have imagined a generation ago.

Our education system has to be upended to enable our youth to catch up with the rest of the world. And before that they have to be properly fed so they will be physically and mentally capable of learning and innovating and creating.

And if our leaders don’t get on the ball and get it done, maybe we should just get these humanoids to run the government. – Charlie Briones, Angeles, Pampanga
