Resign, for goodness’ sake!
Dr. Eric Domingo resigned as director general of the Food and Drug Administration effective the day he announced or submitted his resignation letter, and just a few days after our COVID infections “shockingly” hiked anew and alarmingly. The act looks intriguing if not for some possible compelling reasons (or conscience) very private, personal and urgent to Mr. Domingo, why he did what he did. Read him.
Perspective would tell us, though, that it ought to be the other officials who should have tendered their resignations last Jan. 3 out of delicadeza or for obvious reasons, because it appears Dr. Domingo has been doing his work well in FDA and they are not in their respective domains, seeing the bigger picture.
The disease or problem we are trying to solve (as one nation) in this pandemic is the coronavirus. All the other problems, e.g. economic decline, joblessness, hunger, depression, etc. that we have been experiencing as a result of it are but symptoms. Doctors may address symptoms, but it is the disease that they treat to bring about healing to their patients, as they are trusted and expected to know what to do.
Tragically, many of our officials don’t seem to know what they are doing. Resign, please, and so save lives and help our nation solve COVID-19 (and the economy) by doing so. That’s your chief business now. We could have been on our way to complete healing and recovery had it not for your brand of the busy Christmas season. It has been over two years already of agonizing seesaw pandemic existence for Filipinos, under your reign. Enough.
Boot them out or have an executive/Cabinet revamp if they’re too helplessly callous to resign. Or, step down yourself.
