The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) fully supports the renewed order of President Rodrigo Duterte to hasten land conversion and exemption in the Philippines. Indeed, it is high time that the process of conversion and exemption be further evaluated. As a start, the President’s mandate to the involved agencies to dispense with land conversion or exemption application within 30 days is much welcomed by SHDA.
This land conversion order of the President is in line with this administration’s Build Build Build program, opening up new opportunities for countrywide development. Coupled with a more efficient land conversion process, this will allow the establishment of new residential communities in areas that would, as of the most recent setup, be impossibly accessible to urban development, both present and in the foreseeable future. Consequently, it will result to a highly efficient land utilization.
For the longest time, the process of land conversion in the country has been a very complicated process. Numerous certifications from different government agencies are needed before the process of land conversion materializes. This often results to foregone opportunities for developers and farmers alike. Throughout the years, SHDA has been consistent with its mission to pursuing home ownership for every Filipino based on equitable, economic and socially accepted standards. This political will demonstrated by President Duterte on the issue of land conversion will definitely improve the delivery of more housing units for the people.
For this, SHDA reiterates its support to President Duterte for streamlining the processes of land conversion. As a partner of the government in providing shelter for Filipinos, SHDA mandates its unwavering commitment to help build and develop communities, and will continue to do so, in accordance with the national development framework of this administration. — SUBDIVISION AND HOUSING DEVELOPERS ASSOCIATION
