Unfounded report

Absurd. That is my take on the report of Washington Post about Marawi being a “Ghost City.” Yes, it was devastated by the Maute-ISIS group, but the Philippine government is in the process of rehabilitating the city after it was liberated.

A task force was established to facilitate the immediate recovery of the said place. As of this writing, the city is “business as usual,” meaning the people there are continuing their lives.

It only proves that the report of Washington Post has no basis at all. Rehabilitating a city does not happen overnight. IBuilding the roads, churches, mosques, and other establishments there will take time.

Six months after it was declared by President Duterte to be free from terrorists, the government constructed temporary shelters for the residents.

According to Task Force Bangon Marawi head Eduardo Del Rosario, 2,500 temporary shelters will be constructed by March this year. And that for me is a great development for Marawi City. 

I am confident that the government is doing its very best to help the people of Marawi. And what we need at this moment is a helping hand to fast track the delivery of services for our kababayans. – Shermaine Anacleto
