Remembering SAF 44’s bravery and heroism

The Philippine Star

The death of the SAF 44 last Jan. 25, 2015 reminds me on how cruel war is. For those people like me, I only know the effects of war but never feel the feeling when many lives were lost. Though there may be some lapses and failures in the incident but what had happened last year is quite an awaking part for me and a lesson to be learned for all of us.

Those of us who were the beneficiaries of the sacrifices of the 44 brave men and all men in uniform greatly honored and admired their courage and loved to this country. They’re risking their own lives just to put an end to the chaos and fear brought by the terrorist Zulkifli Abdhir, alias Marwan to the nation and to the whole world.

Their death will never be forgotten and the entire nation will always remember the day when they willingly put themselves in danger to address threats to our security and lost their brave souls in service to the country and in the name of peace.

As we commemorate their death anniversary, may the Mamasapanao incident reminds us the cruelty of war and the importance of peace and unity – that if peace is achieved, none of them will perish anymore in the future. No more fears, no more tears and no more darkest hours. – Leticia Grey Mallorcosa, Cotabato City
