Setting the record straight

The Philippine Star

We write relative to the reaction of your reader Rodolfo Lat, LSQC’70, claiming “only 600 have been granted (ICC) out of 11,000 ICC applicants” which was published in the Opinion Column “Gotcha” of Mr. Jarius Bondoc last Jan. 20, 2015.

It is informed that as of Jan. 14, 2015, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), thru its Account Receivable Monitoring Division, has acted upon 14,096 applications, out of the total applications of 15,890, broken down as follows:

Importer’s Clearance Certificate (ICC)                   11,550

Broker’s Clearance Certificates (BCC)                   1,235

Denied applications                                                  1,311

Total                                                                          14,096

We hope we have set the record straight. Thank you for allowing us space in your newspaper. — KIM S. JACINTO-HENARES, Commissioner, Bureau of Internal Revenue
