‘No UP doctorate yet for Tiu’
This letter refers to the one-page advertisement that appeared on page 15 in the 21 October 2014 issue of the The Philippine STAR entitled: “So the truth may be known: An open letter to the Filipino people from Antonio ‘Tony’ Tiu.”
We would like to correct Mr. Tiu’s statement that he took his “Doctorate Degree in Public Administration at the University of the Philippines.”
The National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) is the only unit in the University of the Philippines that offers the Doctor in Public Administration (DPA) degree. Our records indicate that Mr. Tiu was admitted to our program in 2006, and was last enrolled in 2007. He completed 9 of the 42 units required for the DPA degree. He therefore has not yet earned the degree from the University of the Philippines.
