What happened to Cadet Jeff Cudia should not discourage but to be regarded as a lesson to young men and women who want to enter the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio.
The case of Cadet Cudia is a closed case and it was proven that he erred. Cadets live their lives in the Academy in honesty, integrity and all other virtues that makes a man a soldier. It is why when they leave the portals of the Academy, they are more than prepared to undertake their new tasks as officers and members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The Cudia experience should also inspire other cadets to push themselves further and to attain the highest standard a PMA cadet is expected to be.
It is true that many are called but few are chosen. In the PMA we see how PMA cadets comport themselves, their discipline, their endurance in trials. This is why the challenge is up to them to take – to accept all difficulties that go with military training and the challenge of leadership.
We are lucky the Philippines had a military school like the PMA which never fails to produce a hero, a leader and an inspiration. – Lele D. Gatmaitan-Uy, Candaba, Pampanga
