Letters to the Editor

Allegations and appeals

The Philippine Star

This letter pertains to the column of Dean Andy Bautista which was published in the  April 13, 2013 issue of the Philippine STAR. In that particular issue, Dean Bautista provided space and accommodated the letter of appeal of a Ms. Adriana Alexis Uson, a bar candidate who recently passed the 2012 Bar examinations.

Ms. Uson’s letter of appeal dealt with the recent development of her case wherein the Office of the Bar Confidant did not allow her to take her oath as a lawyer in view of the criminal case that is now pending with the Office of the City Prosecutor of Caloocan City. The subject of the criminal case pertains to certain acts constituting perjury and falsification, which my family filed against the family of Ms. Uson, including her, who we believe happens to be part of the conspiracy in the commission of said acts. Nonetheless, in view of the pendency of said case with the Office of the City Prosecutor, we will just limit our concern to the contents of the letter of appeal as published in the said column of Dean Bautista.

Contrary to the allegations made by Ms. Uson in the letter of appeal, the case now pending with the Supreme Court, thru the Office of the Bar Confidant, is primarily anchored on our right to inform the Supreme Court of certain acts that were committed by any bar candidate constituting or which may constitute violation of the Constitution, existing laws, and rules and regulations, which might be described as crimes involving moral turpitude.

We believe that the acts being  complained against Ms. Uson involve moral turpitude. In other words, we did not file the case with the Bar Confidant Office with the end view of harassing Ms. Uson. We filed the case as law abiding citizens of this country; with due regard to the existing laws, considering the norms and conduct expected of a lawyer.

We have high regards for lawyers who became successful in the practice of their profession; exacting justice every time they are called upon by circumstances to perform their duties and responsibilities to prosecute or defend a given case, as the case may be, without sacrificing the ideals of the profession

This letter aims to respond to said letter of Ms. Uson by asking your good office to also provide a space for us, in the spirit of truth and justice. ‑— Flordeliza A. Uy,  Rolando D. Uy,  Maria Celeste Uy Panlilio,, Maria Criselda Uy Sison, Caloocan City
