Boston Marathon turns bloody

Rio B. Jamin, Atok Trail, Baguio City - The Philippine Star

My son is in New York and I had the opportunity to have a glimpse of the Boston Marathon annually  held in Boston, Massachusetts which was in 2007. It was spring then and was freezing cold but the marathoners didn’t mind it, they were there to enjoy, have fun, compete and keep the spirit of the Boston Marathon alive. It was sad news that the Boston Marathon 2013 was sabotaged. The terrorists set off explosives while the marathon was ongoing. They intend not only to injure and maim, but to kill those around. Imagine lots of tourists watching, cheering with their families.

What could have been a successful event was marred by the explosion. The fear and anxiety felt by the participants as well as supporters and onlookers would be unimaginable. We just hope that our local terrorists, the NPAs and other armed groups would not duplicate this horrific attack on innocent sports enthusiasts.

We are a nation of runners and there are continuing events, especially this summer and other similar activities also for a good cause like fund-raising. An appeal to our local terrorists not to sabotage any fun runs or any organization / group activity because they will be doing damage to their “Kapwa Filipino”.
