This is in connection with the article titled: “Fil-Chinese federation worried over bid to open CJ bank accounts” written by your Mr. Edu Punay and which appeared on Page 5 of The Philippine STAR yesterday, Feb. 6.
Quoting unnamed officials and members of our group, the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), the story alleged we have expressed “alarm” over the effort by the prosecution panel in the impeachment trial of the Honorable Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice Renato Corona, for the opening of his bank accounts for fear that this would trigger a bank run.
For the record and in the interest of fair play, be informed that the FFCCCII has not taken any position pertaining to the issues involved in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Corona for or against any of the parties involved.
We are therefore wondering where Mr. Punay got the basis for his story even as we expressed our sincere hope that this clarification would be given space in your prestigious newspaper for the benefit of all concerned.
Thank you very much.
