Party-list nominees from private sector

MANILA, Philippines - In the April 29, 2010 issue of The Philippine STAR on page 6 thereof, there appears a news item captioned: “25 government officials are Party-List nominees” written by Lilita Balane.

We strongly object to the erroneous allegations against the Alliance Transport Sector (ATS). It is not true that Jaime S. Domdom — the second nominee is a government employee. Jaime Domdom has already retired from the government service as of October 19, 2009. Likewise, Leopoldo Villarena is not a government employee. He is in the private sector as an operator and chairman of Quezon City Transport Service Cooperative.

In the interest of truthful journalism, it is therefore requested that the erroneous news item be rectified forthwith.
