MANILA, Philippines - We refer to the April 5, 2010 issue of the Philippine STAR, specifically on page 20, columns 5 and 6 thereof titled “BOC exceeds revenue target by P4.8 B” written by a certain Helen Flores.
We at the Port of Clark are both happy and sad to read the news item. Happy because it was reported that the BOC as a whole exceeded its collection target by 8.8 percent or P4.8 B for the first quarter of the year but at the same time sad because the Port of Clark (although reported as Clarkfield) was erroneously mentioned as one of the ports which was not able to meet its collection target for the same period. To set the record straight in the interest of justice and fair play, the Port of Clark has consistently met and exceeded its assigned collection target since the undersigned assumed as District Collector up to the present and a recipient of plaques of recognition for the past 2 years by the Bureau’s leadership. To prove our point, we are providing you a brief data on our collection performance for the first quarter of this year 2010.
Thank you in advance for making the necessary corrections in your paper. — EDWARD P. DELA CUESTA, District Collector, Port of Clark, Collection District XIV, Angeles City, Pampanga
