OFWs' young children need proper rearing

-

MANILA, Philippines - Every election year, corruption has always been the issue confronting our nation, and to solve this problem we hear all sorts of promises from politicians, ranging from to fight, kill, eradicate, and stop corruption. All the measures enacted to fight this seem useless, ineffective and the cure if any is only temporary. Unfortunately, such promises do not materialize and only fade away into oblivion.

We must be concerned not only with the present but with the future as well. While today’s ills of society are to be contained with, steps have to be undertaken to prevent future maladies from plaguing this nation. Since the root cause is a crisis of morality, we have to redirect our vision into coming out with a new breed of Filipinos, thus preventing the future generations from indulging in the same misdeeds.

In the case of the attached agencies of DOLE, they are only mandated to conduct skills training, generate jobs and protect the OFWs. It seems that such provisions are just focused on the material needs of these people, practically overlooking the welfare of their young children, the missing link to our nation’s progress.

In 1997, I wrote a book titled Providing Proper Care To The Pinoy Child During The Formative Years that became a national bestseller. It contains all the four essentials of child-rearing: Health, Care, Safety and Education. . . in easy-to-read, illustrated presentation, a comprehensive guide to proper child-rearing.

Fearful of the backlash of the crisis of morality, I organized a movement called “Crusade For A Better Youth Of Tomorrow” to raise a new breed of Filipinos in the next generations. It is my belief that “Ang pag-aruga ng bata sa tamang paraan ay susi sa maayos at mapayapang sambayanan”.

I now call on all concerned and civic-minded citizens to join and support this crusade aimed at nurturing Filipinos into becoming better children of God and better citizens of tomorrow.
