Showing disrespect

I would like to share my reaction about those detained military personnel implicated in coup d’ etat charges who brandished their disrespect to the AFP during their GCM hearing on Oct. 5, 2007, and even distributed a so-called manifesto to the media against the Chief of Staff. This is very unprofessional and uncivilized manner.

Military adventurism is exhibiting utmost disrespect to the military profession and doing the nation the greatest disservice. The officers implicated in coup d’ etat, instead of showing remorse and working to make amends for their serious offenses, are further flaunting their insolence as if it is something adorable and praiseworthy.

Showing disrespect, which is uncharacteristic of a true military gentleman, only draws attention to their penchant for unruly behavior and preference for the illegitimate and unconstitutional means, which are obviously contradictory to their sworn oath.

Lacking in courtesy, communicating impropriety, and working against the law should not be tolerated in our Constitution. I believe that true soldiers explicitly and uncompromisingly demonstrate that their allegiance do not lie elsewhere but fundamentally to the Constitution. Brandishing disrespect is un-military. How can we be proud of these people?
