Pasig fire: 1 dead, 100 families homeless
MANILA, Philippines — A man died, four others were injured and at least 100 families were left homeless in a fire that broke out in a residential compound in Pasig City yesterday.
The charred body of Allan Boriongan, a member of the security force of Barangay Pinagbuhatan, was retrieved by firefighters at his house along Esguerra street.
Roland Gumanas, 47; Reymund Reyes, 31; Angelo Lupit, 27, and Kevin Gonzales, 25, were treated by first aid responders for burns and wounds.
The Bureau of Fire Protection’s National Capital Region field office said the fire started at around 11:48 a.m. and reached third alarm.
Arson investigators have yet to determine where the fire originated among the 55 houses made of light construction materials that were destroyed.
The blaze was put out by firefighters at around 1:12 p.m.
Around 100 families were displaced by the fire and were relocated by the local government to an evacuation center.
