Siklab Awards honors Petecio as Sports Idol

MANILA, Philippines — Boxer Nesthy Petecio has inspired young Filipino athletes to strive for excellence, making it a breeze for the two-time Olympic medalist to be installed as this year’s Sports Idol in the 2024 Nickel Asia Corp. Siklab Youth Sports Awards.

Petecio, silver medalist in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a bronze performer in the 2024 Paris Olympics, is a perfect role model for the 80 youth and junior athletes from 37 sports who will be honored on Dec. 5 at the Market! Market! Activity Center Ayala Mall BGC.

World junior champions Tachiana Mangin of taekwondo, weightlifters Angeline Colonia and Lovely Inan headline the Young Heroes awardees together with 2024 US Junior Girls champion Rianne Mikhaela Malixi of golf and wushu’s Alexander Gabriel delos Reyes.
