LOS BAÑOS, Laguna, Philippines — Palawan will host a science summit of selected young Filipino researchers on Sept. 28-30.

The 2018  Science Research Summit will be held at the Skylight Convention Center in Puerto Princesa.

With “Science for the People” as its theme, it aims to bring science, technology, and innovation closer to the people as the government, through the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) pursues its overall objective of creating a culture of science in the country.

The summit participants are students of the Philippine Science High School (PHHS) System across the country.

The summit will highlight studies along various fields under the government’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program.

Showcasing young researchers’ studies is seen to  encourage students to take up STEM courses and help achieve the critical mass in the number of scientists, engineers, researchers, and mathematicians to strengthen the country’s competitiveness.
