Extended voucher program application ends tomorrow

MANILA, Philippines — The extended application period for the senior high school voucher program will end tomorrow, according to the Department of Education (DepEd).

DepEd yesterday reminded Grade 10 completers in private schools to immediately submit the necessary requirements if they intend to avail of the government subsidy for students in private senior high schools.

“The reopening of the application aims to accommodate a greater number of Grade 10 completers and to provide them with the option to enroll in private schools, state and local universities and colleges, including technical and vocational schools offering the senior high school program,” DepEd said.

“All applications this April must be accomplished online by accessing the online voucher application website at http://ovap.deped.gov.ph,” it added.

The voucher program was implemented by the government starting 2016 to provide students with more options in choosing which track to pursue in senior high school.

Under the program, qualified students will receive vouchers to cover the cost of their senior high school education in private schools and SUCs/LUCs.

Only Grade 10 completers from private schools are required to apply for qualification to the program as junior high school completers in public schools are automatically qualified.
