CHED grants off-site teaching status to HEIs

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - As part of an effort by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to offer graduate courses during the K to 12 transition period, the School for Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (SHRIM) of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) has been designated as a Delivering Higher Educational Institution (DHEI), enabling it to offer scholarships for faculty of higher educational institutions (HEIs).

As a DHEI, SHRIM will be able to administer this program off-site.

Selected professors will deliver to HEIs required classes, either through face-to-face or classroom-based sessions, distance education, or a combination of both modes.

Jose Rizal University in Manila, Divine Word College in Legazpi, Albay and University of the Immaculate Conception in Davao City will now offer a Master’s Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management, through SHRIM, a CHED Center of Excellence in Hotel and Restaurant Management.

Graduates of the program will receive a diploma from the DLS-CSB upon completion of their requirements.

Based on CHED Memorandum Order No. 4 S. 2016, instructors at HEIs will experience reduced teaching loads for five years, from SY 2016-2017 to SY 2020-2021, making it an opportune time for teachers to undertake and complete further studies.
