Pinoy students rake in 240 medals in math tilt

MANILA, Philippines - A team of Filipino students won a total of 240 medals and 87 merit awards at the recently concluded 2016 International Mathematics Wizard Challenge (IMWiC).

Seventy-two elementary students and 132 junior high schoolers attended the competition in Bangkok, Thailand from July 20 to 24. Philippines placed second overall, falling one spot behind China.

Last year, Philippines bagged 138 medals and 63 merit awards in the same competition which was held in Hong Kong.

IMWiC is organized by the IMWiC Coordinating Council composed of Mathematics Education Clinic (MEC, Indonesia), Mathematics Development Academy of the Philippines (MathDAP) and Fujian Overseas Corporation.
