LOS BAÑOS, Laguna, Philippines – Nine more Filipinos earned their doctorate and master’s degrees in school year 2015-2016 as scholars of a Philippine government-hosted Southeast Asian center based here.

They are among 32 nationals of eight countries who completed their graduate education degree under scholarships provided by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).

Commemorating its 50th anniversary this year and currently headed by director Gil Saguiguit Jr., SEARCA is mandated to provide capacity-building interventions to promote agricultural and rural development in Southeast Asia through its core programs of graduate education, research and development, knowledge management and specialist short-term training.

Aside from Filipinos, the new SEARCA graduates are from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Timor-Leste.
