MANILA, Philippines - Some 1,355 students have passed the qualifying exams for scholarship in the Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS).
There were 22,791 applicants for PSHSS scholarships for school year 2016-2017.
PSHSS executive director Larry Cabatic said that the 1,355 can be accommodated in the 16 PSHSS campuses in the next school year which starts in August.
With the opening of two new regional campuses in Dipolog City – the PSHS Zamboanga Peninsula campus and in Odiongan, Romblon – the PSHS MiMaRoPa (Mindoro-Marinduque-Rombon-Palawan), Cabatic said they can easily accommodate all 1,355 students who passed the screening administered by the DOST-PSHSS last October. The PSHSS has a capacity of 1,590 students.
The DOST urges qualifiers to immediately contact the registrar or campus director of the PSHS campus where they are qualified to enrol, or visit websites www.pshs.edu.ph or www.dost.gov.ph for more information on early enrollment.
The deadline for slot confirmation or reservation is Jan. 29, 2016.
