NAMA offers scholarship program
MANILA, Philippines - The National Association of Mapúa Alumni, Inc. (NAMA) recently inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Mapúa Institute of Technology (MIT) on a scholarship program for qualified Mapúa students.
“We are very thankful that Dr. Vea and MIT management have accepted our offer to have this MOA signing. This is actually just one of our projects in NAMA,” said Engr. Freddie Yumang, NAMA president.
Incidentally, Yumang has a first-hand experience in sponsoring Mapúa scholars. In Petron Corp., where he is vice president, they employ a considerable number of Mapúa graduates, most recent of which are Engrs. Pol John Cruz, Leo Punongbayan, and Von Joby Romero, 2014 board exam topnotchers.
Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea, Mapúa president and chief executive officer, thanked NAMA for this benevolent undertaking and said that this not only contributes to the students’ welfare but also to the society as a whole.
Under the NAMA scholarship program, two types of scholarships are being offered: a P25,000 tuition sponsorship per term, where a student has to maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or higher; and an educational assistance of an amount less than Php 25,000, where a student has to have no failing grade every term.
