Canada to hold 3rd education fair

MANILA, Philippines - The Embassy of Canada in the Philippines is organizing the Study in Canada Fair 2014 on October 4 at the Fairmont Hotel Makati. Representatives from 13 Canadian institutions will be present to discuss opportunities for studying in Canada at the K to 12, college and university levels.

 “Canada has one of the world’s best education systems providing academic credentials that are recognized globally,“ said Canadian Ambassador Neil Reeder at the press conference with notable alumni of Canadian institutions.

“International students often become ambassadors of Canada when they go back to their home countries. Some would choose to continue to work in Canada, while others such as our distinguished alumni here have opted to return home with globally-recognized credentials to impart their positive experiences back to the Philippines,” he added.

Interested students and parents are invited to visit the fair for free at the Fairmont Hotel Makati on Saturday, October 4 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

The 13 participating schools are Algonquin College, Centennial College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Fulford Academy, Humber College, Langara College, Mount Saint Vincent University, Niagara College Canada, Royal Roads University, SAIT Polytechnic, Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science & Technology, Seneca College, and TAIE International Institute.

In 2013, over 293,000 international students have chosen Canada as their study destination. Canada is also among the list of top three Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) member countries in terms of investment in public postsecondary and tertiary education. Recently, Canada has identified the Philippines as a priority emerging market, in which education has been identified as a priority area for further commercial engagement.
