MANILA, Philippines - HERO Foundation has tapped Globe GCash Powerpay+ for easier and faster disbursement solution of educational assistance to its 719 scholars nationwide even as Globe surprised the students with free mobile phones and prepaid SIM cards. Globe also donated two mobile postpaid plans and a Text Connect Facility to allow sending of text blasts for HERO events. HERO gives P5,000 to P25,000 a year to the scholars, ranging from elementary to college. Instead of receiving the amount through remittance or bank deposit, the scholars may now withdraw the amount at any of the 13,000 ATMs nationwide via GCash Powerpay+ ATM Card. GXI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Globe which operates GCash, subsidized the card cost for the scholars.
