Ifugao gov’t extends scholarship to poor students

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines -—The Ifugao provincial government led by Gov. Denis Habawel is extending scholarship grants to its indigent college students for the incoming school year.

Juliet Taguiling, supervising administrative officer of the provincial government, said that 185 scholarship slots have been allotted for poor but deserving students who want to earn a degree for the school year 2014-2015. 

Dubbed, Tertiary Education Assistance Program, Taguiling said that the slots would be equally distributed to all the barangays as well as recognized special economic zones of the province. 

She said that a recipient student is entitled to a four-year course available in government or state-run colleges in the province.

To qualify for scholarship, the total gross annual income of the recipient’s family shall not exceed P75,000 and not a recipient of  any scholarship grant and financial assistance from the provincial government including his family.

The applicant, she said, must be a resident of the province and graduated from a secondary school based in the province with a general average grade of at least 80 percent CCL.
