NGCP distributes computer gadgets to Bataan schools

Raffy Viray - The Philippine Star

MARIVELES, Bataan, Philippines -— The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has turned over computer gadgets to  three public elementary schools as part of their corporate social responsibility to host  communities where the transmission facilities are located.

Ernest Vidal, NGCP  Central Luzon corporate communication officer, told The STAR that the  privately owned power distributor firm provided 30 laptops, 30 tablets and 30 SD cards to Cayetano Arellano Elementary School  in Barangay Malaya located inside the huge Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) complex in Mariveles town; San Mateo and Balsik Elementary Schools both situated  in Hermosa town near the NGCP transmission office. They distributed school supplies and books to the named schools before the school opening.

Vidal said that the transfer of new technology gadgets to elementary students is another commitment of the power transmission  firm for the computerization of teaching methods for Bataan and other provinces in Central Luzon.

He said the power firm also has constructed a school library for cultural minorities of upland village of Duale in Limay town, this province, and  computers to make them well-versed in the latest educational technology.

The NGCP  built  school facilities, classrooms, restrooms, covered court and other amenities  in the host communities in partnership with the local distribution firm, Peninsula Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PENELCO) for the past years.

The NGCP has coordinated with the local officials led by Bataan Governor Albert Raymond Garcia in preparing a realistic plan of action  to  further strengthen the students and teachers in the computer literacy thrust of the provincial government.
