Gintong Binhi ng Karunungan scholarship renewed
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines -— The partnership for the successful implementation of the Gintong Binhi ng Karunungan (Golden Seeds of Knowledge)†scholarship of the Team Sual Corp. that operates the power plant in Sual town with the provincial government of Pangasinan, Department of Education-Pangasinan I and II, Colegio de Dagupan and Pangasinan State University has been renewed.
This, after a resolution was passed on March 24 during the Sangguniang Panlalawigan regular session here authorizing Gov. Amado Espino Jr to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the said entities for the implementation of the said program.
The Gintong Binhi ng Karunungan is a scholarship program conceptualized by Team Sual Corp. under its various corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs by extending help to aspiring engineers and technical engineers of the province of Pangasinan.
The scholarship program is designed to finance the education of five deserving high school graduates from Pangasinan for each of school years 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 in a five-year Engineering course or a three-year ladderized technology course at Colegio de Dagupan or Pangasinan State University.
The first MOA covered the past three years and 15 scholars had been benefited, each receiving a maximum of P20,000 for tuition and miscellaneous fees plus P4,000 allowance.
The STAR learned that there had been a scholarship program of Mirant, the corporation that previously handled the operation of the coal-fired power plant.
