Avail of Fulbright scholarship, CHED urges graduate students
MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) urged Filipino professionals, researchers, faculty or doctoral students to avail of the 2015-2016 Fulbright-Philippines Agriculture Scholarship Program in the US.
CHED chairperson Patricial Licuanan said Filipinos who specialize in agriculture, fisheries and forestry may apply for the scholarship program offed by the Philippine American Educational Foundation (PAEF).
“Awards are given to Filipino professionals, researchers, faculty or doctoral students specializing in agriculture, fisheries and forestry to conduct advanced research or non-degree dissertation in the US,†Licuanan said.
The Fulbright-FPASP aims to modernize the agriculture and fisheries sectors of the Philippines by developing their human resource base through bilateral educational exchanges between the US and the Philippines.
“The objective of the grant is not only to enable recipients to pursue particular fields of study/research but also to develop leaders in agriculture and fisheries who can contribute to promote better understanding between the Philippines and the US,†Licuanan said.

Applications must be submitted to the CHED’s International Affairs Staff office located along C. P. Garcia Avenue, in Diliman, Quezon City on or before June 6.
The Philippines is an agricultural country with a land area of 30 million hectares, 47 percent of which is agricultural land.
