MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Education (DepEd) urged yesterday schools to make the annual junior-senior (JS) prom simple but meaningful.
“The DepEd encourages schools nationwide to conduct their junior-senior prom in a simple manner. Such events may remain fun and meaningful without excessive spending,†DepEd Assistant Secretary Tonisito Umali said.
He also warned public high schools against unnecessary collections for the JS prom.
“Public schools, in particular, are reminded of the strict implementation of the no-collection policy of the department,†he said.
The JS Prom is a much-anticipated event by most students in high school and is normally held in February in time for the Valentine’s Day celebration.
The students usually wear expensive clothes just to meet with the tradition of dressing up well for the event.
