Pampanga to build satellite schools

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines -— The provincial government is eyeing to put up at least eight school satellite campuses in the province to bring education closer to the communities. According to provincial board member Rosve Henson, it is the vision of Governor Lilia Pineda to build one for every district satellite campuses of state colleges and universities to bring tertiary education to the communities. Rosve said the Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU) in Bacolor town has already two satellite campuses, one each in Sto. Tomas and Mexico. Pineda  is planning to build another in the province’s first district. Three satellite campuses for Pampanga Agricultural State University (PASU) and three for Philippine School of Aeronautics based in Floridablanca town are also in the pipeline for education-related projects this year, Henson said. Earlier, the provincial government has allotted some P35 million for the rehabilitation of an abandoned national government building, now known as the DHVTSU-Sto. Tomas campus. The governor also gave P20 million for the improvement of the facilities at the Philippine Air Force Flying School in Barangay Palmayo Resettlement, Floridablanca, Pampanga.
