Tanay school gets new classrooms

MANILA, Philippines - A new one-story, 4-classroom schoolbuilding complete with chairs, tables and electric fans has been turned over by partners SM Foundation, SM Prime Holdings, Inc. & BDO Foundation to the Mayor of Tanay, Rizal and the principal of the Sampaloc National High .

The Sampaloc National High School has a student population of 1,500 coming from barangays Sta. Maria, Pinagsilbihan, Cuyambay and Mayagay in 7 sections per year level on a single shift with classes held from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  There is an average of 50-65 students per section with a teacher compliment of 56.  With the new classrooms, it is expected that the ratio will decrease, thus making learning more conducive to the students.

BDO Foundation president Maureen Abelardo, SM City Masinag mall manager Reijin Cruz representing SM Prime Holding and Carmen Linda Atayde, of SM Foundation turned over the symbolic key to Mayor Rafael Tanjuatco & School Principal Lerma Labrador-Flandez. Also present during the inauguration was Jesus Tirona, trustee of BDO Foundation, Georgia Bautista, branch head,  BDO Tanay Branch, Vice Mayor  Jimmy Vista  and the whole Municipal Board of Tanay, Dr. Aileen Vocal, DepEd’s EPS I, Division of Rizal, Barangay Captain Alvin Belza and PTA president Maridel Aseniero.
