PWU now operates MMC School

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Women’s University, now entering its 94th founding anniversary, has acquired the Makati Medical Center College, Inc. (MMCCI) from Medical Doctors, Inc. owned by Metro Pacific Investments Corp. In an official statement, the STI Education which inked a partnership with PWU in 2011, said “the University has acquired 100% of the issued and outstanding capital stock from the previous investors/owners.” When the acquisition was made, the MMCCI located in Legaspi Village, Makati City, was offering Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, of which the PWU has been providing since 1960.Its first dean, Anastacia Tupaz was a luminary in Philippine Nursing history having been responsible for the law regulating the practice of nursing in the country, as well as one of the founders of the Philippine Nurses Association. With over a hundred graduates annually, the PWU School of Nursing continues to this day nurturing students to become “professional nurses imbued with the value of caring, commitment, community engagement and dedication for quality health care service.”
