QC to host regional secondary schools press meet

MANILA, Philippines - Division of City Schools, Quezon City  will be hosting the 37th Regional Secondary Schools Press Conference (RSSPC) on Nov. 9, 16, 30, Dec. 3 and 5. This annual activity is organized by the Department of Education-National Capital Region (DepEd-NCR) in coordination with the National Capital Region Secondary School Paper Advisers Association (NCRSSPAA) in line with government thrust to promote responsible campus journalism as provided in Campus Journalism Act of 1991. Student-participants from private and public high schools from the 14 divisions in the NCR will be competing in seven individual categories and in two group categories as special events in English and in Filipino. Sports writing contest will be held at the Quezon City Science High School while the photojournalism contest will be at the Quezon City Memorial Circle on Nov. 9. The rest of the individual contests will be at the P. Bernardo Elementary School (PBES) on Nov. 16. Awarding and closing ceremonies will be on Nov. 30 at the PBES. Top three winners in each individual category will advance to the National Secondary Press Conference (NSPC) in April next year. “The Role of Campus Journalism and Transformational Leadership is this year’s theme.
