MANILA, Philippines -It is not a surprise that the world is constantly evolving -- fast! A trend now may become just a fad tomorrow, or even an afterthought the next month. This kind of evolution has a great impact in the way businesses are conducted, and no less than top executives and managers should learn how to ably survive in these challenging times -- or risk failure if they can’t move along.
That observation, shared by Professor Ricardo A. Lim, dean of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), is what prompted Asia’s leading business school to come up with “Agility in a Complex World†for its Top Management Program (TMP) that will be held from September 5 to 10, 2013 in Bali, Indonesia.
“Teaching content or a certain technique is secondary in these ever-changing times. What is more important is to teach executives on how to cope with change considering that all of us don’t know what will become tomorrow’s next ‘big thing’,†said Dean Lim. “With this, the best way is to learn how to cope with changes and know how you can utilize that change to improve yourself and the company or business organization you are leading.â€
AIM’s TMP is already a sought-after course attended by top executives and managers all over the world. The five-day course will touch on topics on chaos and systems thinking, team and crowd innovations, value mapping and business canvassing, and lean start up principles.
“What is notable about this TMP is that it allows the participants to think more broadly. There should be a new way of looking at things. Traditionally, we just only look at the major players but now, we have to look at the ones who even have minor roles,†explained Lim.
“The TMP aims to open your eyes to new things, to stimulate thinking, and allows you to initiate positive change in your organization.â€
One of the advantages of the TMP is that it is a highly interactive course, where AIM Professors, led by Lim, will have one-on-one sessions with the participants, active story-telling, questioning, and simulations, and group exercises. In fact, the venue of the TMP in Bali is also a plus factor.
“The TMP is for top executives who are, more or less, masters in their respective industries. They know the ins and outs. The course will not tackle what you already know about your business but rather an opportune chance to absorb a new way of thinking together with other like-minded executives,†said Lim. “A week in Bali may just be what you need to start a fresh strategy, see things at a new light, and motivate further your people.â€
Together with Lim is a distinguished group of AIM’s faculty who will make the TMP a learning opportunity that can’t be missed. Prof. Federico M. Macaranas, PhD, has a career spanning the fields of academe, business and government. With his credentials and countless achievements, Dr. Macaranas remains to be one of the most sought-after international lecturers and speakers on globalization, economics and leadership.
The TMP will also feature Professor Antonio Ma. C. Perez, a core faculty member of Executive Education and Lifelong Learning Center.
