How parents bring learning ‘home’

MANILA, Philippines - Education isn’t “one size fits all.” Just as each child is born with a unique personality, the way a child learns can vary greatly from others. More parents today thus seek a more personalized education, one that seems tailor-fit for their children. Home schooling has become one of the better alternatives out there.

Victory Christian International School (VCIS) runs a Home Study program that aims to assist parents or guardians who are seeking an alternative way for elementary school children to receive formal education.

‘’Reasons why parents prefer home study vary. These include financial considerations, concerns about their child’s character development, inability of the child to cope with regular school schedules, or parents wanting their children to focus on honing particular talents. There have been a lot of success stories and this is because of proper coordination among the parents, the students, and the mother school that provides the program,” says Florinda Rocha, principal of VCIS, proponent of the VCIS HomeStudy TM Program.

The home study program is anchored on biblical principles, giving education a greater purpose than just gathering knowledge. Lessons are presented with the ultimate goal of training each student to think about the world the way God does. The VCIS Home Study Program engages each student’s visual, auditory, and tactile-kinesthetic learning styles. Moreover, the program provides Teacher’s Editions containing lesson plans and tips, as well as supplementary materials like videos, to help guide parents in educating their children and to maximize the children’s learning potential.

VCIS Home Study provides an excellent Christian education for children at home with a focus on Christian character, academic excellence, and leadership development.

VCIS is offering 300 scholarships to elementary pupils who may want to enroll in the program for school year 2013-2014. For inquiries, email homestudy@vcis.edu.ph or call Germaine at 6718505 or 07.
