Top Australian school opens doors to Filipinos

Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Australia’s top university is again opening its doors to deserving Filipino students who want to study abroad and experience education at its best.

The Trinity College Foundation Studies (TCFS) announced early this week that its marketing and admissions manager Cindy Chandra will be in the country on March 16 to personally lead a student consultation and forum at the KOKOS International Philippines main office located along Arnaiz Avenue, Pasay Road, San Lorenzo Village, Makati City.

Trinity College at the University of Melbourne welcomes new cohort of Foundation Studies students arriving from more than 20 different countries, including the Philippines yearly.

TCFS said all will have different expectations and all will face the need to make adjustments as they settle in to life in Australia while the school plays its part in helping them make such adjustment.

Under the program, Trinity will provide them with a comprehensive orientation covering all the administrative details of their course, subject selection, academic procedures, timetabling and others.

“Perhaps more importantly though, the orientation will address broader questions about life in Melbourne, establishing a network of friends, adjusting to life without family members in the same house and generally how to embark upon the transition from high school teenager to young adult life at university,” TCFS announced.

Unique to Trinity College, every student is linked with a member of staff to act as their mentor who meets with them on a regular basis. Mentors develop a strong and supportive relationship with their students, assisting them to resolve any difficulties.

Having chosen the No. 1 ranked university in Australia, TCFS said students and their families have high expectations for the level of preparation and academic guidance they receive from Foundation Studies at Trinity College.

“With the right attitude, an open and enquiring mind, some careful pre-departure preparation, students arriving in a new country for the first time will not only meet the challenges before them, but thrive on the experience as they pursue their educational goals.”

To find out more about the foundation studies, TCFS said interested Filipino students may contact KOKOS Manila by emailing Mary Galang Grace at [email protected] or calling tel. nos. (02) 7102029 or (02) 8450115.
