BDO and SM Foundation turn over school building in CDO

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - BDO Foundation and SM Prime Holdings through SM Foundation recently turned over a newly built one-storey four-classroom school building at Lumbia Central School in Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro. Construction cost amounted to P2.4 million jointly funded by BDO Foundation and SM Foundation.

Funds from BDO Foundation came from the Share Gift Check Program while that of SM Foundation came from SM Prime Holdings.

According to school principal Dr. Conniebel Nistal, since June this year, the school population almost doubled to 2,013 from 1,283 with majority of them Sendong survivors. The students used to hold their classes in makeshift classrooms in the basketball court, tents and open-air grounds devoid of the needed facilities.

Some 200 students and teachers of Lumbia Central School now hold their classes in the newly constructed school building equipped with school furniture and restroom facilities.

This is the second school building donated by BDO Foundation. The first was in Barangay Tambler in General Santos.

This project is in support of the DepEd’s “Adopt-a-School” program to address the shortage of classrooms in the public school education system.
